I met Katelyn & David over a year ago when we choose to meet to do their engagement session in Charlottetown. I knew from the minute I met them that they would be a sweet couple to work with. I spent the time with them doing their session which seems like yesterday, but now that along with their wedding day have passed. It is hard to believe that wedding photography requires over a year ahead to be booked.

Katelyn & David's day was at the beautiful Stanley Bridge Resort. The weather was perfect for an outdoor ceremony overlooking the water. Friends and Family were all very happy to see this amazing time finally here! We then went around the New London area to do photos. The day ended back at Stanley Bridge Resort for a delicious meal and some dancing!

A wish is a hope or desire for something. In folklore, opportunities for "making a wish" or for wishes to "come true" or "be granted" are themes that are sometimes used.

wish: (plural wishes)

  1. a will for something to happen.
Your dearest wish will come true.
This is exactly what my sister did. She made 3 wishes. 3 huge wishes. I bought her a wish bracelet on one of my ventures from the "oh so cool" store Fred Segal in Los Angeles. The rule of the bracelet was to make 3 wishes and when they came true, the bracelet would fall off. This past May when we were in Cuba, the bracelet came off. She tossed the bracelet into the ocean hoping that her wishes would all come complete and the wishes of others would come true as well.

BdayGirlKim001.jpgThis is my sister ~ who is always there for me, through thick and thin. A sister is a special friendship that I would wish for everyone.
This is my personal buddha ~ who can calm me down and brings logic into my ever moving mind.
This is my assistant ~ who can always come up with amazingly creative ideas when I hit a wall.
This is my friend ~ who is the most loyal, loving, giving girl around & can make me laugh with her witty remarks.
This is my BFF ~ who I cannot imagine my world without.

BdayGirlKim002.jpg
The last few images are ones that I will treasure forever! It was our first trip together on a plane. We have traveled many times over the years together but never actually have sat next to each other on the plane. I am sure that the people behind us loved ever single minute of our 3 hour - without breathing - conversation! I know Dwane did!

BdayGirlKim004.jpg

I am sure that me and lovable sister will be on many more ventures together, and share many more laughs and fun moments together. I will treasure every single moment thus far with her and wish for many many more! I hope you have the most amazing day ever! My wish for you is that all those bracelet wishes come true for you and many many more! Happy Birthday! XO

Krista is beautiful on the inside and outside, and Marc, along with family and friends recognize that. From the moment I met these two I could see it. As Marc watched Krista come down the aisle looking as gorgeous as ever his eyes welled up with tears. I have seen this many many times on a wedding day, but it always gets to me. It is just the look of sheer happiness and love all in teardrops. *insert tears of my own here* I usually get a little choked up at this point, yep pretty much every wedding and of course Marc & Krista's was no different!

It was probably one of the hottest days of the summer so far on Prince Edward Island but that didn't stop us from getting lots of photos all around downtown Charlottetown. Their are so many great heritage buildings and colorful places that it makes it easy to use as a backdrop. Although, it was very welcome to have the reception back at the Delta in air conditioned comfort!

Marc & Krista, I hope you two had just as much fun on your day as I had capturing it!

These two love birds are so freakin' adorable. First of all Tyler was the one to get in touch with to book me for the wedding photography portion of their wedding day in Charlottetown. Now, as this is not average, sometimes the groom is in charge of finding the photographer. BUT, this time he wanted to surprise his beautiful fiance with my services to ease her mind on the planning. AND you guys all know how I feel about surprises! I LOVE them!

Although most of the surprise fell through by the time we did the engagement pics, Jenny was just as excited for the photos. I will photographing these two on their wedding tomorrow as wedding 1 of 2 of this weekend. Yep, folks we are in full swing here in wedding season in Prince Edward Island. Wedding 1 of 2 this weekend, and 1 of 12 for the next 3 weeks!

I look forward to see how much more cuteness can ooze from these two on their wedding day. I could have sworn they could not get any cuter!

Today Krista & Marc will get married! YAY! I first met these 2 love birds about a year ago when they booked their wedding with me. I knew that they would be a lovely sweet couple to work with. THEN when doing the engagement session, Marc wants to do a handstand. I now know that FOR SURE today will be fun to photograph! All of these couples who will do things, including turning themselves upside down for me is awesome!

I cannot wait to see you guys today, we will have a great day together and capture all of your amazing moments!
See you both soon!

Henri "Hi My name is Henri!"
Michelle "Hi I am in love!"

I have struggled with how to write about this wedding. My sister, Kimmy (who is now assisting me at weddings) & I became particularly attached to this bride and her zest for life. I found myself crying on the way home, realizing how lucky I am to be constantly reassured how to grab life and love it each day at a time. Crying or feeling sentimental for me is nothing new after a wedding. I have heard from other wedding business's that I shouldn't get so attached to my clients, and found this shocking. I usually feel a instant connection with most of my clients. This wedding was also a DIRECT poke from the universe who says that everything happens for a reason. I am now pushing Michelle to write a memoir. I would love to know more about her and her amazing story.

Locations: Fairholm Historic Property & Stanley Bridge Country Resort.
Make-up was done by the oh so talented Amanda May Makeup
.
The whole day was set in motion and kept organized by the wonderful Jennifer Clark of Kiss by the Bride.

Sonya & Leon decided to go full out with an Empower the Dress session in Cuba & why not! Empower the Dress sessions are so much fun! No worries, just relax, and get some fun pics done. Their is no need to worry if the dress gets wet or a little sand on it! In fact I encourage it! Of course we had a great background to work with with the beautiful beaches of Varadero, Cuba and the sunny sunny day!

We started off the shoot with some photos on the beaches of Varadero and in the water. I was sooooo excited because they then wanted to get the entire wedding party to all jump in the pool at the same time with their wedding attire on. How exciting and fun!??!? I was in the pool to capture them in mid jump. I looked behind me at one point to see what was all the stir and their was about 50 people behind me watching!

Sonya & Leon, wedding party and family were amazing to be around for 2 weeks in Cuba! I loved their excitement for anything that I suggested.

This past holiday weekend I had 2 sensational weddings. Wedding season has begun in full effect. Most weeks I have at least 2 weddings. Photography, Edit, Email, Upload, Create, Repeat. This is great time of year. I love the busy-ness of this time of year. I get such a rush from a wedding day!

My first wedding of this past weekend was on Canada Day, July 1st. What a great way to celebrate our countries birthday than with love. I love clients like Kat & Darrell. They were willing to do anything I want and had full trust in me! If I had said climb a tree, I am sure they would have attempted to do it. Although I took a ton of photos, here is one that I came across that I loved. Of course their will be plenty more to follow! For now enjoy!

Thier is nothing quite like a summer evening with that warm yummy sun flare. I love it. It reminds me of being a child. I love sitting outside and totally relaxing at that time of night. This particular night outside was AHHHH - MAZING light. I couldn't get enough of it. It was like their was a magnet outside that kept pulling me towards it!

Of course Sparky Ming Ming & Madison were going to get photos taken. OF COURSE, HOW could they NOT? SMM was out on her trampoline playing which she absolutely adores. She plays on it at least once a day. Meleah had lost one of her two front teeth a few nights before and was ready to lose the other one. It is still hanging by a thread! Then of course, I had to get Madison in on the sun flare fun. Madison is such a sweet gentle young girl. Look at that yummy sun flare all around her!

Ahhhh - Mazing Light with my two Ahhhh - Mazing Nieces. How sweet!

When I received the message below from Jasmine Star, I felt so empathetic and knew I had to blog - from my perspective. It was exactly how I felt when I met her. However, Jasmine did NOT disrespect me the way the person she waited to speak to did.

Jasmine was/is the sweetest person that her blog presents her to be. I was so worried about getting to meet her, because I didn't know what to say to her, and she wouldn't know who "I" was,  that I almost turned around. A stranger that I sat with during the presentation persuaded me to go and introduce myself to her. Half the room wanted to talk to her and were pushing their way through the crowd. She was graciously greeting as many people as she could, shaking hands & hugging, laughing and smiling. When I made it through the crowd to the front of the group, this is what happened.

Jasmine Star was right in front of me. What do I say now? As many of you think I am super outgoing, I am shy at first (for the first minute or 2), and almost would rather be kicked in the stomach that introduce myself first to someone knew, but I force myself over and over to do that just. So I just blurted out "Hello & You did a wonderful job speaking". J* asked me my name and said that I was her focus in the room during the presentation. A room of 2000 people (likely another 2000 waiting outside!). She said that she usually finds a calm, gentle face to focus on and this time it was me. My face helped her calm down. MY FACE HELPED JASMINE STAR CALM DOWN!!! I noticed she was looking in my direction but me being me thought she was looking at something behind me! I even turned around a few times to check! Can you believe it? Jasmine Star was actually being real to me by admitting that she was nervous to do the presentation - she was real as real gets!!! YAY for realness!

I was sooooo happy to meet Jasmine, and not because of the Photography Rock Star from California that she is. I was happy to meet her because she is exactly what I hoped she was, sincere, generous and real. Thank You J* for being you & letting me be your focus even if it was for a short time! Glad to have been their and experienced your amazing presentation. I hope to have a shoot done by you someday, and meet Polo "his cute self" for real!

Mitch & Lisa were married on a beautiful spring day in Prince Edward Island. My idea of beautiful is clouds and no bright sunlight with just a little breeze! I think the rain held off until I literally had all my gear packed up and then it had started. As a photographer, I check the weather constantly for Saturdays, you gotta be ready! The wedding took place at 42nd St Loft , above Off Broadway Restaurant in Charlottetown. It was a beautiful setting with only family in attendance, and a lot of happy hearts.

Mitch & Lisa were introduced to me via friends and I love them. They are adorable. I first got the privilege of spending time with them during their engagement session which I truly love doing. I think it relaxes both the couple and myself for the wedding day. L & M introduced me to the Pearl Jam - No Code album which I blogged here.

Mitch & Lisa are the sweetest couple, full of love for each other and for their friends and family. I wish them the very best and cannot thank them enough for including me in this special time for them. I hope we get to spend lots of time together in the future!

This particular "Photo Tour" morning I woke up to the site of Sandra's children running to the bus with school bags & lunches in hand. They all boarded the school bus and the oldest getting on that bus waited to make sure everyone boarded, and then boarded herself. I hadn't officially met the children yet, but knew they would be awesome. We had gotten in late the night before and the children were all asleep. When the children arrived home later that day, Jodi & I finally got to meet them.

The Regier Family which consists of 5 children, a dog, a cat and a budgie bird were a joy to be around. All 5 children, yes 5!! were amazing. Some characteristics of these children were outgoing, confident, humorous, talented, smart, well adjusted, loving, beautiful & creative. I was in awe of the family unit that they had created at this house. We sat down to supper at 6 o'clock at the table, tv is turned off, and they prayed, again I was in awe. This was not a scene that was created for Jodi & I, this happens nightly, which impressed me. As I grew up, our suppers were the same, every night we waited for Dad to come home and we then ate supper. It was part of our daily routine, and looking back I do love those times!

So when I had heard that this family had never had many family photos done, Jodi & I were all over it. We had very limited time to do this because Sandra (whose Studio I blogged here) had a shoot that night. We did the entire shoot in the back field behind there house. I hope you enjoy these shots as much as I enjoyed making them.

I love her just as much as the day we got married; that that was 63 years ago. This is what he told me as we sat together at the wedding reception for his granddaughter today. He met his one true love at a dance hall in England, and they have been inseparable ever since. I of course, had many many questions as to how their love has survived. His answer was simple and I took it to heart.

1-Never lie
2-Always be faithful
3-Respect

I always love to engage in conversation with new people, especially when they seem to have so much worldly advice for love and life. My beautiful bride Michelle likely new that I would love to chat with these sweet sweet lovebirds and I enjoyed every second of it.

As they danced tonight to the same first song that they danced to 60 some odd years ago, my heart was so happy for them. People always ask me if I really love my job that much...and without hesitation I can clearly say YES! How can I not love meeting such amazing people, with such a zest for life?

Little "Krita" is expecting again! YAY! So excited that their will be another Peters joining the family!

I was super excited to receive the call about little Chloe entering the world. I remember when I got the call at work from Krista's mother. Of course I cried. I cried all the joy and relief that little Chloe had arrived safe and sound. You see, Ashley, is like a brother of sorts to me. I have one brother, and I grew up with all of his friends. Ashley being our first cousin, was around home a lot and it seemed quite normal to think of him as an addition to our family. Chloe was dreamt about by Ashley & Krista long before her arrival. We always knew a Chloe was going to arrive, just when was the question.

So now we are awaiting the arrival of a new Peters. The last part of Krista's pregnancy was a bit more difficult than with Chloe and she was put on bed rest until the day the new baby arrives, which has now been announced as June 29th. We had to do the maternity shoot in the hospital because of the situation, and it didn't seem to stop any of them from smiling!

So on this tour day I head into the small town of Zurich to visit Sandra Regier's studio in the heart of the small town. I was so excited when we drove up and I seen her very own sign outside the door. It is quite a thing for a photographer to have their own space to create and focus on work. On this day though, I don't think Sandra would have got much work done with me there, I was so excited, asking a million questions and taking in the beauty of this workspace. Sandra's studio is two floors and beautiful. The first floor is her meeting and office area complete with a kitchen, bathroom and dining area. The second floor is a complete shooting area with a fireplace and lots of natural light. I instantly fell in love with her studio.

After we explored her studio, Jodi, Sandra and I went exploring in the small town of Bay field. Of course when three photographers go exploring, their will be photos taken. Sandra is very photogenic and so I made these images of her to complete our touring portion of the day. Stay tuned for a fun family photo shoot with Sandra's family - all 7 of them!!!

Little Beth. Well I finally got the chance to meet the up and coming "next big thing"!!! Well I had "met" Beth about 2 years ago via Krista Jefferson but only virtually gave her hugs. Just this past weekend, I got the chance to give her the real deal! I am so glad to have finally met you, and chat with you and to be able to tell you in person, how much your work impresses me. Beth & her boyfriend Tyler were paparazzi'd with all of us photographers at the party! I loved getting the chance to photograph them, they are both so very photogenic!

Beth has recently just graduated from Sheridan Tech at the top of her class. Her winning portfolio just won her a brand new Canon Mark ll. I think her teachers seen the potential in her creative eye as soon as they seen her first photo, which makes me sooo happy for her! Beth's final portfolio was theme's surrounding women, emotions and what we all go through. Congratulations Beth on your amazing achievements thus far. I can only imagine where your talent will bring you in the future, and love that you will deserve it!

So the past weekend while on my little photography tour in Smalltown, Ontario at Krista Jefferson's she hosted a party for area Photographers & friends. It was so amazing to finally meet some of the people I had talked to and interacted with over the social networks like facebook & Twitter for the last few years. It felt a bit surreal to have hung out with such great talented people. Of course when 30 photographers get together we all talk about our favorite subject and the camera's come out! This was great because the information sharing, the lens sharing and idea sharing were flowing greatly!

Some of the girls at the party I hold very dearly to my heart. I am sure once I get to know some of the others they will as well. These photographers have become more than just photographers to me. They have become inspirational people and most of all friends. All of these girls invited me into their homes to stay with their families and talked to me about business, life & things that happen day to day. They all made me feel like I was part of their families whether it was sitting down to the supper table or getting a good night hug from their children. I could get extremely sappy, and I had done that many times through out the last few days. My heart & eyes have been misty in a good way as the week has gone by. I cannot thank these girls for introducing me to more passion for my life, my family & my business than ever imagined possible.

Ok so tonight on my little photography tour, I am at Krista Jefferson's home in the country. I mean the country. Like really, the country. Krista lives on a gravel road, where everyone knows your name. Krista is a well known, amazingly creative, and awesome photographer. As we walked down the gravel road, Krista answered our questions, and I always have we all of them. It is always fun to get together with other photographers and shoot and see what comes out. Everyone's shoot the same object and the end results are all different.

We walked up the gravel road, and came across an amazing site. No it was not the beautiful Krista sitting on the fence, although that was a site to behold. We walked and we came across fireflies. I couldn't believe my eyes. They were beautiful, so very magical. They lit up the road, the sides of the road and the fields. Kathryn, one of the photographers, caught one in her hand for me to see up close. We all gathered around to take a closer look. THEN - we sat down in the middle of the gravel road and just looked at them. We really just looked at the fireflies, and took the surrounding it all in. It was one of those moments when you just say, is this real? Am I really doing this right now? Am I really in small town Ontario with 3 amazing photographers and so happy to be doing it?

Nataschia and I did quite a bit of touring around the Niagara area yesterday. We talked business a lot and she showed me a lot of the regular shooting areas around Niagara, and some local venues, and venders. One such vendor is Vintage Design Co in the Niagara area. Vintage Design is owned and operated by Jennifer Elliotson. Jennifer is amazing and was a pleasure to have met. When we entered the work area it smelled divine! Of course on a Friday things were in full motion, with many weddings to work towards covering this weekend.

Vintage Design has been published in many well know wedding magazines such as Wedding Bells, Niagara Weddings & WedLuxe. Their work really speaks for itself with attention to detail and with a love for what they do. Having a passion for your career really makes a difference in the quality of work that many of us adhere to.

My time with Nataschia is over, and so I sit in the parlor at Krista's house. Tomorrow their is going to be a BBQ gathering with many of the areas local photographers. I cannot wait to meet everyone!
