So today's the big day for Lindy & Li! The weather seems to be holding out with no rain but lots of clouds, my favorite way to shoot!!! YAY!

I met up with Lindy & Li for their engagement session in Charlottetown just last week. They just arrived from Ottawa and I was glad to finally meet them after email communication. I cannot imagine not doing an engagement session or at least meeting with clients and just showing up the day of the wedding. It helps them meet me and understand how I shoot. As well it helps me get to know them, how they interact, and how they react to the paparazzi, I mean the camera.

It was just like meeting friends that I hadn't seen in a while. I love my clients. Did I tell you lately that I love my clients? Awesome doesn't begin to cover who they are! Lindy & Li will have a perfect day today with their outside wedding, and their photogenic personalities will shine through for me, YAY!

A special world for you and me
A special bond one cannot see
It wraps us up in its cocoon
And holds us fiercely in its womb.

Its fingers spread like fine spun gold
Gently nestling us to the fold
Like silken thread it holds us fast
Bonds like this are meant to last.

And though at times a thread may break
A new one forms in its wake
To bind us closer and keep us strong
In a special world, where we belong.

You can do anything you want to do in your life. Anything. Remember when we were children and our parents always said "you can be anything you want when you grow up". It just sounded like words to our little ears but as we get older and older it becomes more true. My parents also always stressed the idea of Paying it Forward, Sharing & Being Good to People. I feel that I have been extremely blessed with people being that way to me, and since I try to treat others the way I am treated. I am having a little contest, check below for information!

Contest Time:

OK so you have a little over 24 hours to get me to 1000 followers on Twitter, and win your self a pair of VIP tickets to Taylor Swift!!

1 - Follow me on Twitter - @Rachel_Photo

3 - Tell me 140 characters or less why I should give you 2 VIP tickets to see Taylor Swift concert on Saturday night at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival in Cavendish, PEI

star_contest.jpg

I have been asked to join the Cavendish Beach Music Festival Team to help preserve memories with my camera in Cavendish this weekend! YAY! I am so excited to be able to use my camera and point it in the directions of Keith Urban, Taylor Swift. Little Big Town, Collin Raye, Emerson Drive, Gloriana, & Lady Antebellum. Amanda won my 1000th fan contest on my Facebook Fan Page. I don't like to call people my fans, rather would say they are friends. I made an announcement on my group that if I could make it to 1000 friends that I would award the 1000th person with a free photoshoot! Amanda joined the group at 1000. I am not sure if she knew about the contest or not but I am glad that she did!

I met Amanda, Jonathan, Venna who is going to be 5 and Gavin is going to be 3! Those children are so freakin' adorable. Venna brought me a map of me, or well how to find me downtown and wanted to show me how to dance. Who doesn't love her already? Gavin was excited to get his photos down and had the cutest little faux-hawk.

This is one of the reasons that I love what I do. I meet the most amazing people doing photography. Amanda & I may have not crossed paths before this photoshoot. Amanda was super sweet and appreciative of the shoot. I look forward to hanging with her again!

Here is what Amanda wrote to me to say about the photos after she seen them! I cried. Of course I cried. I am so connected to my feelings and my passion. It was a grateful cry!

"Your heart must be some large after giving so many people beautiful treasures that will last a life time! Some of the pictures you captured for us were absolutely perfect, like the smiles and giggles you captured of the kids, I know that when I look back at them when I'm old and gray it will take me back so well that I'll remember what those giggles sounded like! You have a very gifted talent and I'm so happy that you shared that talent with us!!!"

I have been wanting to try out this delightful pasty shop since it opened last year and just have not got around to doing so. A friend was by on Saturday and suggested we check it out. I jumped at the chance and was grateful that I did. Well I don't know if my waistline will be grateful because I was just there on Saturday and after I finish this post, I may have to go back!

The shop (Gusto Patisserie) is owned by Adnan & Pinar Paputcu. They moved here in April of 2009 with their two sons from Istanbul, Turkey. The couple noticed that their were few restaurants in the area for the type of foods that they missed from back home. They thought about opening a business. Pinar knew what she wanted in a business, fresh quality ingredients, clean surroundings & kitchen and a comfortable place to relax and sit. They looked around Charlottetown for places to rent and decided to renovate a building from top to bottom, and after 2 months they were ready to open.

I for one am glad they did. Oh my goodness, you have to try it all out. Between 3 girls, we must have tried one of everything they had to offer. The menu changes throughout the day and their is always something new to try! The prices are awesome, the food is awesome & surroundings awesome! So I guess I will sum it up by saying that Gusto's is awesome!!!!

Well as I am going through my piles and piles of disc to get to people with the Disc Sell Off, I am finding some from years ago that are pretty adorable. Last Day to take advantage of this sell off is Friday! Don't let your amazing captured memories get away!

This was summer of 2008 and it was Willow's first day at the beach. It was the first time she touched sand, or put her little feet in the ocean. Can you imagine? I am pretty sure she loved it. Look at that smile and LOOK at those feet!!!

The Bistro "Elements" (www.chocolateelements.ca) where the smell of deliciousness lingers in the air, is located on Victoria Row in Charlottetown. The Bistro is owned and operated by Don Croitor & Candice Mills, and family. Don & Candice are a couple who are full of passion for love and for life, and each other. They met 5 years ago and put the words "Opposites Attract" to the test. They have different personalities, temperaments, and ideas but shared one common dream.

Elements emerged from this love. Candice learned how to make chocolates via Don. Their dreams of creating a business together that featured unprocessed, good wholesome, delicious foods was always talked about. While I talked with Don, he really stressed how people want to make cooking and creating harder than it needs to be. During this time he was working on the menu for Sunday's Valentine's Day feast and the aroma's in Elements swept me away!

Don Croitor has many years of experience in 4 and 5 star hotels. His expertise is well remembered at the Delta Obsessions where he was pastry chef for 10 years. You may have also tasted these delicious works of art at the Farmers market where Candice and her children Alisha & Thomas have sold them while looking for the perfect location for Elements.  They found the location they were looking for on Victoria Row last July and have been loving it since that time.

The family all works at the Bistro where "Passion and a Love affair with Life are the crucial ingredients to whipping up a dish of happiness"

These cookies are known all around Charlottetown. While I was there, many people were coming in asking for the "Cookie". I had one, literally it melted in my mouth. These morsel little delights are made of 80% chocolate! I highly recommend them!

Elements008.jpg

Now everyone knows me and how I love meeting people who are passionate about life and about what they do. When I asked Don what he thought of a "friend" telling me that I should step away from photography and stay with the federal government behind a desk, he told me the following. "If you aren't passionate about what you do, and love it, then find something you are passionate about"

The big Love Holiday is on the way this weekend - Valentine's Day. I decided to celebrate LOVE by giving away some chocolate love. I will be giving away 5 - $5 Gift Certificates to Elements in Charlottetown, so you will go and try the deliciousness yourself. To win all you have to do is comment on any of my blog posts and 5 random people will be chosen. One comment = One Entry. Feel free to enter as many time as you wish, on as many blog entries as you want! This contest will be open until Saturday at midnight.

Please do me a favor and buy a cookie when you are there!

If a fairy came along and offered you three wishes, what would they be? Now, you cannot wish that you have endless wishes. It's no use trying to cheat the universe. If you do, it tries harder, and it just get even trickier. They must be tangible wishes. I have thought about this all day. It is a hard thing to answer. The answer can change based on your mood, or events surrounding you in that present moment.

People have been asking me a lot what do I want to do? where do I see myself in the next 5 years. Once the New Year & the holidays have passed, people seem to stop reevaluating their lives. New Years resolutions are a thing of the past.

In five years I see my self doing much of the same, loving what I do. I would like to include much more travel into the mix, well I sure don't think that surprises anyone! I really do love being a part of my friends special days capturing their special moments. I had a "friend" recently tell me that I need to back away from photography because I was always busy and that is not making me have a very fun life. I don't know if she noticed or not that I have been the happiest I have been in a very long time since I started admitting to myself that photography was where I needed to be! Photography is fun for me, and for a lot of people this is something they can not comprehend. Imagine doing something you actually love for a living.

Again, what would your three wishes be?

So Julie & Matt are the cutest. I should have a contest to see what couple of mine is the cutest. Oh my, that would never work. I think they are all the cutest. Cute to me doesn't just describe physical features, but mental features as well and how people interact. Some examples of cute would be how Matt would be sweet to Julie .... or how Julie would look and giggle at Matt...CUTE! Of course they are physically cute as well as you can see below!

Engagement Sessions are so important...to both me and my couples. I get to spend a little time with my cute couples and see how they react to my studdering and foolishness and to each other all the while getting some fun shots of them. I think engagement sessions are important to the couple as well so they can relax regarding the photography portion of the wedding day knowing that photography is not going to be a concern. I love seeing people in love and feel so comfortable around each other.

That is how I would describe these two. It was almost as if the world around them fell away as soon as they were close. It was like I wasn't even there, which I loved because I captured their love for real.

P.S I love being a photographer of love.

P.S.S No one ever said I was a writer ;-)

Name: Mary "Clarie" Murphy
Born: August 21, 2009
Size at Birth: 7 pounds 14 ounces

Into this world, the most beautiful sweet little darling that any mother and father could ask for. This little darling stole their hearts and mine as well. Those beautiful blue eyes were peering into this world, hoping for all the best for her and everyone around her.

Ten fingers, Ten toes
She's laughter and teardrops
So small and brand new
And amazingly angelic
She's sent to bless you
She's one special Baby
The best of life's treasure
And will grant and bless you
Many hours of great pleasure.
Take a sprinkling of fairy dust,
An angel's single feather,
Also a dash of love and care,
Then mix them both together.
Add a sentiment or two,
A thoughtful wish or line,
A touch of stardust, a sunshine ray...
It's a recipe, for a Baby Girl truly fine.

Cooper MacNeill Bradley (His middle name is Dawn's Maiden Name)
Born on Oct 29, 2009 (A week before he was due - he couldn't wait to enter this world)
5lbs 9oz

"Little Cooper is our little miracle" Dawn had mentioned to me. I thought I would share this session with you to spread some joy for this holiday season. Miracles are all around us especially this time of year. They happen every day in peoples lives, it is up to us to acknowledge and accept them as miracles. Just looking at the smile on Dawn & Robbie's face's when they introduced me to their little miracle, it was sheer joy and pride!

"Miracles occur naturally as expressions of love. The real miracle is the love that inspires them. In this sense everything that comes from love is a miracle."

I am Cooper's great Aunt, but I have yet to meet him, we left for the winter just after he was born, so to see these pictures of this beautiful baby is a great joy for us. He will bring great joy to his parents this season and many more to come, thanks.
