A real estate agent, a hair dresser, a copywriter, and a nutritionist walk into a bar. No, it's not the start of a bad joke--it's the average supper meeting of the Island Tweethearts, a new PEI networking group.

The idea for the group was conceived during a casual lunch between Twitter enthusiasts Carol O'Hanley, a Charlottetown real estate agent and April Ennis, a Summerville resident in the midst of launching an online magazine.

April1.jpgCarol1.jpg

"Carol was talking about her husband, Steve, also a real estate agent, who meets regularly with friends over lunch to network. I mentioned that I'd recently started meeting for dinner once a month with a group of mothers also affected by autism," states Ennis who is working on finishing her Bachelor of Business in Tourism and Hospitality. Ennis adds, "Carol proposed that we do something similar so we started building a small group of women we knew from Twitter, each with different professional backgrounds, with whom to share food, ideas, support, and wine every month."

The first official meeting of the Island Tweethearts took place in May at The Pilot House. The group was made up of six women. Besides Ennis and O'Hanley, the group consisted of holistic nutritionist Rachelle Wood, owner of Insight Marketing Kerry Ann MacDougall, photographer (myself) and UPEI researcher and lecturer Cheryl Wartman.

Rachelle1.jpg

Since then, the group has grown to twelve where it has been capped to help keep the meetings intimate. Each Tweetheart represents a different industry. Rounding out the group of twelve are freelance editor Christine Gordon Manley, freelance copywriter Jaime Lee Mann, owner of Rita's Style, Julie MacIsaac, mortgage broker Lori MacDonald, IT consultant Esther Duncan, and Jen MacKinnon who works in business development with a local IT Firm.

Jen1.jpg

This group has quickly become very tight, with many members connecting at multiple times throughout the month to chat, drink coffee, and/or toss around business ideas. "It's a tremendous source of support, especially for someone like me who has worked from home for so long," states Jaime Lee Mann, owner of Morell-based Mann Made Copy.

Jamie1.jpg

And the support doesn't just stay within the group either. "One thing that was important to us was the idea of giving back to the community somehow," states O'Hanley. She adds, "At every supper, we each chip in $10. We then discuss as a group who we want to help out that month. The first time we did this we had $100 to give to a Twitter friend who was having a difficult pregnancy. The second time, we decided to donate the money to a local family one of us knew was going through a financially draining personal situation."

"We decided that helping one Islander every month was actually a wonderful thing," adds Christine Gordon Manley, owner of CGM Editing. "Often times there are many people who need help but can't access help for whatever reason. And, even more often are those of us who simply need a pick-me-up to help them out of a temporary situation. A hundred dollars or so isn't much, but it can make someone smile, and that's what we want to do."

The Tweethearts do not publicize who they help to protect the privacy of those who accept their donation. You can read more about these acts of Tweetheart kindness here.

Krista is beautiful on the inside and outside, and Marc, along with family and friends recognize that. From the moment I met these two I could see it. As Marc watched Krista come down the aisle looking as gorgeous as ever his eyes welled up with tears. I have seen this many many times on a wedding day, but it always gets to me. It is just the look of sheer happiness and love all in teardrops. *insert tears of my own here* I usually get a little choked up at this point, yep pretty much every wedding and of course Marc & Krista's was no different!

It was probably one of the hottest days of the summer so far on Prince Edward Island but that didn't stop us from getting lots of photos all around downtown Charlottetown. Their are so many great heritage buildings and colorful places that it makes it easy to use as a backdrop. Although, it was very welcome to have the reception back at the Delta in air conditioned comfort!

Marc & Krista, I hope you two had just as much fun on your day as I had capturing it!

A special world for you and me
A special bond one cannot see
It wraps us up in its cocoon
And holds us fiercely in its womb.

Its fingers spread like fine spun gold
Gently nestling us to the fold
Like silken thread it holds us fast
Bonds like this are meant to last.

And though at times a thread may break
A new one forms in its wake
To bind us closer and keep us strong
In a special world, where we belong.

You can do anything you want to do in your life. Anything. Remember when we were children and our parents always said "you can be anything you want when you grow up". It just sounded like words to our little ears but as we get older and older it becomes more true. My parents also always stressed the idea of Paying it Forward, Sharing & Being Good to People. I feel that I have been extremely blessed with people being that way to me, and since I try to treat others the way I am treated. I am having a little contest, check below for information!

What's your vision for your life? Since I posted it on my facebook status about "being excited for Vision Board night" - I have been bombard with emails and questions as to what making a vision board is all about. Actually the real question being asked to me is "What is a Vision Board?".

To me, a Vision Board is a creative collection of your hopes and dreams complied in one place. I have 2 already created, and from to time I see or think of new things I want to accomplish in life and add them to the next one. Since I started to create Vision Boards to visualize with, many things in my life have changed. I started believing in visualization, vision boards and the Law of Attraction many years ago. I created my first Vision Board 4 years ago. I post them behind my monitor (since that is where I seem to spend the most part of my day!) and from time to time I look at them and get excited about things that I will doing or being a part of it my future. I just look at them and the excitement starts.

I know what I want out of this life and believe that I deserve that the Universe will deliver these "things" to me. Not a lot on my Vision Boards are material things such as fancy cars, or fancy jewels. A lot of mine is things I want to accomplish or do such as flying a plane, being healthy or be a featured photographer in magazine spread.  The value of making a vision board goes way beyond the material things that life can give you. Because of the happiness that you see when you look at your Vision Board, your life changes to match those images and those desires; such as the people that come into your life or go out of your life. The universe will put people, places or things in your path to help your visions materialize.

Ok, I could go on about this stuff for days. I am excited that I have created my 3rd & 4th Vision Boards and cannot wait to start focusing on them. I am super pumped that a lot of the people in my life believe with me about this and were excited to get together to create new visions for our life!

XO

Sometimes smaller, more intimate weddings are my favorite ones to be a part of. I get to spend so much time with the families and the bride & groom. I was part of this wedding as the 7th person in attendance at the ceremony, including the JOP. It was very special. I have seen Jeffrey grow up over the years, into a husband.

Almost every summer I have one or two small weddings, and I spend the few most important hours with the couple and family. Showing Love doesn't have to be a big event, showing love can be with just the people who you care about most.

Amanda won my 1000th fan contest on my Facebook Fan Page. I don't like to call people my fans, rather would say they are friends. I made an announcement on my group that if I could make it to 1000 friends that I would award the 1000th person with a free photoshoot! Amanda joined the group at 1000. I am not sure if she knew about the contest or not but I am glad that she did!

I met Amanda, Jonathan, Venna who is going to be 5 and Gavin is going to be 3! Those children are so freakin' adorable. Venna brought me a map of me, or well how to find me downtown and wanted to show me how to dance. Who doesn't love her already? Gavin was excited to get his photos down and had the cutest little faux-hawk.

This is one of the reasons that I love what I do. I meet the most amazing people doing photography. Amanda & I may have not crossed paths before this photoshoot. Amanda was super sweet and appreciative of the shoot. I look forward to hanging with her again!

Here is what Amanda wrote to me to say about the photos after she seen them! I cried. Of course I cried. I am so connected to my feelings and my passion. It was a grateful cry!

"Your heart must be some large after giving so many people beautiful treasures that will last a life time! Some of the pictures you captured for us were absolutely perfect, like the smiles and giggles you captured of the kids, I know that when I look back at them when I'm old and gray it will take me back so well that I'll remember what those giggles sounded like! You have a very gifted talent and I'm so happy that you shared that talent with us!!!"

Empower the Dress sessions are one of my favorite sessions to do. Oh who am I kidding, all sessions to do with love are my favorite. These sessions are done after the wedding is over and the dust has settled and we can spend some time looking for a location that has meaning to the couple, and create beautiful life long images. I am doing this to create art for my couples.

Location, Dress Empowering & Grooms are all up to you! I have been getting a lot of requests for July 31st, August 6, 7th & 8th, of this summer, which I am all booked up for and have been for quite a while. Why not book an Empower the Dress Session with me if that is your wedding date. You won't regret it!

I am working on 2 things right now. First is my 2011 pricing. Their is 38 requests in the 2011 folder! It will be first response, first served once the pricing is released. I am hoping the couples applying for the positions as my clients for 2011 will tell me a bit about why they want me as their wedding photographer and a bit about the wedding in the initial email. It will help me get to know you better in the short span of an email! Sorry for the delay on releasing the prices. I promised by March 31st, but life got in the way! I will do my best to get them out to you all by this Friday!

In the meantime, my second project right now is that I am still going through and mailing out discs to people who requested them while I was in Vegas. I found this wedding from June 30th, 2007. What a great day of fun! Martha & Dustin were amazing. The group they were with were so much fun. I thought I would post this from back in the day. Martha & Dustin are coming on their 3rd year of marriage now! YAY! Congratulations to both of you~It was a complete pleasure to be a part of your big day!

60 years of love, family & giving is what I celebrate today. My mom turns 60 years old. I cannot even believe it. To me, she should still be around 40 years old. It seems like yesterday she was up every morning getting us ready for school, making sure our pizza was in our lunch bags, and breakfast was on the table. Can you believe that? Everyone morning after dragging us out of bed and most likely battling a few fights between my brother & I, she had breakfast on the table for us.

The family celebrated her birthday on Sunday afternoon, with a ton of delicious food, gifts and of course one of my sister's traditional "I can make you cry" sideshows. I love our family gatherings not because of the above mentioned but because I love my family so much that I cannot get enough of them. Their is a ton of nuttiness mixed with love, and that is no better mixture around.

My mother is a wonderful, caring & loving person who I am proud to call my mom. Happy Birthday Mom. I hope 60 is your best year yet.

I had photographed Cindy last year, last spring. What a spark plug! A spark plug is someone with a ton of excitement, full of life and dreams. I was happy to have met her! Then she introduced me to her nephews. The pride and joy of her life. Instant connection this has brought us. I loved the way she doted on her nephews and I am sure they didn't mind either, and I understand completely how she feels about them, as I am the same with my nieces. I would give them the moon if I could, and I am sure Cindy would do the same for her nephews.

So we took a walk around downtown and took some pics of them alone and with their ever so beautiful & handsome Mom & Dad! No wonder these boys are so cute!

Trienke & Jane have no idea how much they brightened my day. They were willing to be excited about any idea I had for a photo. They didn't even question a thing I said. I had photographed Trienke last spring in an Everyone is Beautiful Session. I was excited to photograph her again, and this time with her cousin, Jane.

We walked around downtown beautiful Charlottetown after sampling pretty much everything that Gusto's had to offer. I laughed at these two so much on the outside and the inside. Sometimes when you are having a bad day, just doing something you love, or listening to your favorite music or being with amazing people can turn it all around. Thank you so much girls for turning my day around. I know it may shock most of you to know that I can have a bad day! But hey! I am human too and sometimes it happens, not too often but sometimes! It was such a sunny afternoon &  it was great to spend it with two awesome girls! I look forward to the next walk down the next dirty alley with you both!!!!

I have been wanting to try out this delightful pasty shop since it opened last year and just have not got around to doing so. A friend was by on Saturday and suggested we check it out. I jumped at the chance and was grateful that I did. Well I don't know if my waistline will be grateful because I was just there on Saturday and after I finish this post, I may have to go back!

The shop (Gusto Patisserie) is owned by Adnan & Pinar Paputcu. They moved here in April of 2009 with their two sons from Istanbul, Turkey. The couple noticed that their were few restaurants in the area for the type of foods that they missed from back home. They thought about opening a business. Pinar knew what she wanted in a business, fresh quality ingredients, clean surroundings & kitchen and a comfortable place to relax and sit. They looked around Charlottetown for places to rent and decided to renovate a building from top to bottom, and after 2 months they were ready to open.

I for one am glad they did. Oh my goodness, you have to try it all out. Between 3 girls, we must have tried one of everything they had to offer. The menu changes throughout the day and their is always something new to try! The prices are awesome, the food is awesome & surroundings awesome! So I guess I will sum it up by saying that Gusto's is awesome!!!!

Heather Wilson, a friend of mine put it in the Universe. She said she was going to write a book about her life according to her, and how people should take control of their lives. Of course, I was intrigued and very interested in hearing more! Within 5 months of meeting her, her first book arrived to her house. That's right. She told me within 5 months ago, that she was going to write a book and has now happened.

Just like many of you, Heather has two kids, and a cat. For over ten years, she chose to stay in an unhealthy marriage that did not allow her to follow her dreams or be who she was meant to be. After constantly living on the verge of being homeless, taking her kids to the food bank, and living on her husband's paycheck to paycheck mentality, she literally woke up one morning and decided to take charge of her life.

When she made the choice to get a divorce, she was a stay-at-home Mom with no job or savings; she was living with her parents; she was physically overweight and unhealthy; and she had totally lost her sense of self and confidence. She felt stuck and frustrated. She had no idea how she would change her life, but she knew she had to.

Within two years of that day, she bought her own house and crossed the finish line at the Honolulu Marathon. Since then, she has also overcome many obstacles including: losing over 50lbs, being the sole provider for a household, creating a work/life balance as a single mother, and acquiring the self confidence to follow her dream of helping others succeed.

Using her hard learned life experiences, along with lots of research, Heather figured out a process that enabled her to succeed beyond her wildest dreams. She continues to help individuals realize their true potential and live the lives of their dreams through coaching and speaking at events worldwide.

I am excited for Heather and love that she put her ideas and beliefs in herself into the Universe and was open to receiving the rewards. Every time I chat with her or photograph her, I leave feeling pumped about life! This is amazing!

Heather will be at Indigo today signing books from 1-3!! Go their and buy one, and get her to sign it! You can also check out Heather's
Lady in Red Website for more information on Heather or to buy her book.

Oh & P.S. That photo on the front cover of the book, yep, it's mine!

These last two photos I had to include. Heather's cat really wanted to be in on the photo shoot. The cats name is Aura, and she had an awesome "aura" about her! Aura climbed up around my neck and was so cute! I thought we better include Aura in our photos as she is proud of Heather as we all are!

Well as I am going through my piles and piles of disc to get to people with the Disc Sell Off, I am finding some from years ago that are pretty adorable. Last Day to take advantage of this sell off is Friday! Don't let your amazing captured memories get away!

This was summer of 2008 and it was Willow's first day at the beach. It was the first time she touched sand, or put her little feet in the ocean. Can you imagine? I am pretty sure she loved it. Look at that smile and LOOK at those feet!!!

Leisa & David were married on what had to be the hottest day of the summer.  On July 31st, my sister and I went to photograph an outdoor wedding and ended up sunburnt even with sunscreen. I feel today as a blizzard hits Prince Edward Island it would be an appropriate day to blog this couple. As I hear the snowplows outside and see people shoveling, I feel that the warmth from the wedding day would be gratefully accepted today.

I had met Leisa the day of the wedding, as she lives in Ottawa, but had heard so much about her through a mutual great friend of ours. We chatted on the phone prior to the wedding and laughed about things we had in common and expectations for the day. When I finally met her I was glad that she was an awesome as our friend had said she was.

The wedding was held on private shore-front property in Western Prince Edward Island. What a beautiful location. I couldn't get over how peaceful it was. I wanted to go back after the wedding day to just relax!

So this set of photos makes me laugh every time I see it. I have it posted to my fridge. This was taken after a wedding. I wish I could show you her shirt she is wearing, that I had gotten her in Vegas. It says "the camera loves me". I had gotten a new vehicle and Sparky Ming Ming wanted to see it on the inside. I set up my camera of course to record her reaction when I blasted dance music out for her so we could have a mini dance party. Sparky Ming Ming started to roar laughing. The biggest belly laugh ever. I love that laugh of hers. It can brighten anyone's day. It is one of those laughs that is from the depth of her belly and is fills her eyes and face. I am sure if you could bottle up that laughter and sell it, it would be a profitable product. Very Profitable. Anytime I miss her, I just think of that laugh, and it makes me feel happy. Oh Sparky Ming Ming, you really do make me smile.

I wanted to address the issue of confidentiality with my readers in regards to Boudoir or for that matter any of my sessions. I take it very seriously and would never breach this intentionally.

I am a very honest and loyal person and I can promise that I would feel worst than you would if your photos were seen and you didn't want them to be. I will post them to my blog if you are pumped about them and don't mind me showing them off. That would be my honor.

Will you tell people about me having a session?
No, absolutely not, I will however say I had a "BEAUTIFUL inside and out client" doing a boudoir session. All my clients are Beautiful ;-)

How do I choose the blog photos?
I will choose a few from the session out of your favorites and then ask for your permission to use. Until I have your permission and the go ahead they will not appear anywhere in my promotions or on my blog.

Can I have a few for facebook?
Yes, I don't mind sending you a few lo resolution logo'd ones for facebook or other online sites.

Will I be used in promotion?
You will only be used in promotions if you agreed that you want to be.

When do I have to decide if I want to be blogged or not?
Whenever you wish. You can decide after you see the photos. Some clients let me know before or during the shoot. Others decide that after they see the photos that they are promoting beauty and don't mind at all giving me the go ahead!

Where do you get your images printed?
I print my boudoir along with all other images, out of country, so that complete confidentiality is served. I will order express post if I have promised images will arrive in time, and take the charge upon myself to make sure they get here.

All those classes when you didn't want to exercise or even be there, but when you arrived, you got this burst of invisible excitement and energy, well we have to give some of it back. UFIT is being battled with extreme rental increases and space limitations for the classes. I cannot understand how they would want to stop or limit this amazing class from happening, when the benefits to a healthy PEI are so strong. Having a healthy PEI can only make us a stronger PEI.

Eireann Rigby, the owner of UFIT, is an amazing soul that will help you become healthy in whatever way she can. Her incredible spirit and love for fitness created UFIT into the safe, happy, healthy place that it is today. Eireann's commitment to UFIT, healthy & community helped UFIT win the BDC Young Entrepreneur Award for 2009. Please take a look at the blog entry congratulating Eireann on an awesome job well done!

The new policy states that:

-UFIT can ONLY access the gym 3 times per week in any one School
-UFIT will have NO ACCESS to the gym during Holidays, storm days, March and X-mas break and Summer Vacation.
-UFIT will pay have to pay triple the National Standard for rental fees. This fee would in effect put us out immediately in Montague and St. Jean.

Anyone who has been to UFIT knows all to well the benefits of the classes, not just physically but the emotional help that comes along with it. I have blogged them before, but now they really need our help to continue helping us. Personally, UFIT has helped me so many times mentally and physically.

The three people below need to become aware why you love UFIT and how it is has changed your life and the community. You can contact them via email and let them know your opposition to the changes.

1) Dr. Alex (Sandy) MacDonald, Superintendent
    agmacdonald@edu.pe.ca

2) Mr. Robert S. Clow
    Board Chairperson
    bsclow@gov.pe.ca
    rsclow@bellaliant.net

3) Marjorie Steves
    Director of Corporate Services
    mesteeves@edu.pe.ca

Take a look at the photos that I captured during a UFIT class. If you look closely, or maybe you don't even need to look that close. Notice all the smiling and happiness. I for one cannot explain to you how happy UFIT makes me and how I would be extremely disappointed to hear of it being limited. Let's stick together and let people know how important UFIT is to all of us.

As someone who is working hard to be a healthy person, which is a huge struggle. It is really disappointing to see that anyone would try to hurt such a wonderful organization.
