Oh it was the night before Christmas and I stayed at my nieces. I have done this every year and I have not missed a year since Madison was introduced into my world. I get so excited to be there when they go to bed and then when they wake up again in the morning. This year we decided to make a gingerbread house and have a photo booth set up to add to the fun.

I will always remember the sound of pitter patter on the floor and the words "Santa came" coming out of my little Sparky Ming Ming's mouth. As they went to bed, and snuggled all in, and fell asleep within seconds...I imagined how excited they must be. Oh I was just as excited, who was I kidding? I love giving to them exciting gifts and sharing with them the excitement of Christmas.

Christmas Day we all go my parents for both breakfast and supper with a much welcomed afternoon nap in between (if I can settle myself enough to do that). Christmas is all about giving and sharing love. It is the most exciting day of the year when everyone's hearts are so full of love that they might explode! I wish this feeling would last year round for everyone.

I sure do love my family, each one of them for a different reason. Mostly because they all make my heart smile.

I went to see "The Christmas Carol" the other night with my family in Summerside at the Jubilee Theater. Even little Sparky Ming Ming was there, and she liked it too. I thought she would be scared of it but apparently, I am the scared-e cat in the family! My mother also took her to see it in 3D at the Theaters.

While Ebenezer Scrooge was haunted by the ghost of Christmas past I thought about my Christmas past. I definitely wish that I could go back in time and be a child trying sooooo hard to stay awake Christmas Eve. I used to think up elaborate plans in order for me to see Santa Claus. It would never happen. I couldn't stay awake that long, and today I am the same.

All my memories of Christmas Past are great ones (except the year when I received Baby Alive & my brother fed it all of it's food, and broke it), not just because of the presents that were brought by Santa. It was the sheer innocence of the excitement and the events that surrounded it. Their was always family involved, lots of music and lots of yummy food (check me lovin' the turkey below lol). Today is not much different, except our physical appearances have changed, the excitement in our hearts remains.

Well, my first ever Cans for Comments Campaign was an overwhelming success. I have counted status's, twitter and comments on my blog and have reached a grand total of 191! I am going to through in the other 9 comments and give 200 cans.

200 CANS! 200 CANS of FOOD to the UPPER ROOM. That is incredible and awesome! Again. 200 CANS!!! WOW!
Can u tell I am excited!!??!

200 CANS!

I know that their will be a lot of people very thankful for having a hot meal on a cold day and these 200 cans of yummy goodness will put smiles on someone's heart here on our own island.

While I know that I am very lucky and feel extremely grateful for all that I have and have access to give. I hope that everyone can take a moment to think about all they have in this world, and think of those who don't have the same access to everyday things that we might take for granted, such as food and shelter.
Thank You everyone who helped me make this a success! Your all awesome, and I love you all XO

Next project
: Let's make the Christmas spirit happen all year round.
YAY!

In this season of giving, I want to help those less fortunate, but I can't do it alone.  I need your help!  In addition to every comment you make, I need your help to make this a huge success.  So far the total is just over 100 cans!!! Let's keep going!!

Here's how you can help:

Pass this along information on to everyone you know

*Update your Twitter status to something like "Your Name" Wants all my fellow tweeters, to join @Rachel_Photo and help the food bank this year! Tis' the season! Simply comment on a photo at http://www.blogbyrachel.com/blog

*Update your Facebook status to Join "Rachel Peters Photography" in giving to Island Food Banks this year!  Tis' the season!  For every person that updates their status, I will donate more food; one status update = one can; many status updates = many cans! http://www.blogbyrachel.com/blog

*Challenge your co-workers - for the corporate group that gathers the most food, I will personally come to your office and take a photo of your group and pick up the non-perishable items. Make sure you let me know you are doing this so I can let everyone know how awesome you are!

In the words of Ghandi, "Be the change you want to see in the world."  One step at a time, let's do this together!

Tell...Give...Smile

Well I woke up this morning and all of a sudden it felt like Christmas. We had about 10 cm's of snow over night, and the ground was covered in the white stuff. I unlike, my Sparky Ming Ming (SMM) was not excited over this blanket of snow. Conversation between Sparky Ming Ming and myself is as follows:

SMM: Reeeschell, you can take pictures of me making snow angles!

Myself: Oh SMM, that is a great idea, sounds fun.

SMM: Well you can if you want to!

Myself: I never made a snow angel before.

SMM: We could make a snowman too! I will show you how to make a snow angel!

Some people seem a little more excited about snow than myself. Sparky Ming Ming also told me to wear snow pants, gloves, hat, scarf and make sure I had my winter boots on, not my summer ones. I guess she knows me well.

So how could I turn down an invitation to take pictures of her in the first snowfall of the year!? Look at that cute face with the puppy ears!!!
