Over the past few years, brides have been adding a boudoir photo session to their wedding packages. These are usually at least a month before the wedding and sometimes are given to the groom as a gift on a wedding night. Here are some of the questions I get asked about my boudoir sessions. I thought it might nice to share some of this information with any girls that are thinking of doing a session with me.

1 - Do you have any tips on how to relax about being photographed in lingerie?

Doing a Boudoir session can be a nervous thing for most people. EVERY person who emails me and eventually enters my place for a session is nervous. Most have serious second thoughts of canceling before the shoot. You can expect to be nervous. This is ok and quite normal. Sometimes I have heard that yoga, a walk or some form of exercise the morning of the session will also help.
It is when the client leave smiling & happy that is what I like to focus on!

2 - What type of lingerie looks great in boudoir photos?

I know that corsets are becoming a very popular choice for boudoir photos. Know your best asset and plan to accentuate it! Other choices are well-fitted bra-and-pantie sets, sexy leggings and cute baby dolls. Another thing that women sometime bring are favorite sports jersey's.

3 - What's the best setting for a boudoir shoot?

A bed or couch seems to be the fitting choice to start with for a boudoir shoot. If you have ideas, lets go over them! I always love to shoot on location and to have new ideas.

4 - Are there things a bride should avoid doing during the shoot that turn tasteful pictures into tacky ones?

Think about what you want your photos to look like. I don't use things like flowers, roses, or champagne glasses. That is not to say those things don't look great in photos, they are just not my style of photography. Having Professional Makeup done is also an important part of making your session a beautiful and not a tacky one. I can provide an amazing makeup artist on site.

5 - Do you have any advice on how to find a good boudoir photographer -- what you should look for, who you should avoid?

Ask around! I can send you some past clients emails who can share information about doing a session if you feel you would like to inquire. Find a photographer that has some experience and has lots of shots on their blogs and websites that are suited to your style of photography that you like. Make sure you feel comfortable with your photographer or you may feel more tense during the session.
